If you are a long-standing ANA member, you know Laurie Anderson. On 31 January 2023, he was awarded the Rowing WA Award of Merit, which is the highest distinction presented at State level for distinguished service to rowing in Western Australia. This is only the third time the award has been given by Rowing WA.
Unfortunately Laurie could not be physically present but attended through a live hook-up to a screen in the café. The presentation by David Rose, President of Rowing WA highlighted the remarkable contribution that Laurie has made to the sport of rowing in Western Australia as an athlete, a coach and an administrator. Laurie was typically modest in his words of acceptance.
