**** 2008 Australian Transplant Games Regatta *****
Saturday 04 October A huge thanks to all the ANA members that stepped up to the mark on this occasion, very well done indeed. From all reports a very successful day was had. From the Games Organisers Subject: Re: Transplant Games Rowing Attached are some photos taken on the day. (can be viewed here - Ed) You are welcome to use any of these on your website if you wish, as long as the photographer, Jenni Lodge, is credited (her logo is attached) and it mentions that it is the 11th Australian Transplant Games. A couple of the photos do include club members but there are more photos of members on a CD Jenni has released and she can be contacted on clarity.pr@iinet.net.au Thankyou for all your involvement in the Games and the involvement of the ANA Rowing Club. Jane Bartlett has been overwhelmed by the support she has received from the Club and is now going on to row at the World Transplant Games in Queensland next year. This is a great achievement both for Jane and the Club, and there are also a few medical people invovled in the Hospital Challenge, who have now been exposed to the joys of rowing. Those of us involved in Transplant Australia WA have really appreciated the effort the club and it's members have made to help us out with this event. Our sincere thanks **** 2008 State Championships - Part 2 ***** Saturday 04 October Everyone did very well considering the appalling conditions. The SunSmart Premiership Table 2008

Bunbury Regatta - 9 July 2008 Thanks to Chris Hayes and James Carpenter for their towing efforts in the same blustery conditions. Photos from the day here AVON DESCENT - 2 & 3 August Was there water in the river? Well done to all the volunteers that helped throughout the Avon Descent festival. A good turnout and a very good day of fundraising for the club. Thanks to carpark attendants, BBQers, money getters, drink dispensers, ice cream sales folk, cake sellers and all who helped prep food and set up and pull down. Special thanks to all the behind the scenes help from Kay Jansen, Maree Hemming, James Carpenter, Chris Morris (food hunter when all was sold out) and Tim Boyle. Particular thanks to Tim who has now identified every electrical device in the club and tagged it. I told him it would probably take 30 mins!!!.... We found some that were very dicey indeed. And did you realise the WHOLE club is run from ONE powerpoint. Modern technology, extension cables and 4 plug power boards - what will they think of next!!!! Sorry if I have missed some. This will be updated when I have conferred with James and Kay
26 July 2008 - Fremantle Rowing Club Regatta - Champion Lakes A morning to rival any greeted James Carpenter, Chris Hayes and myself 7am at Champion Lakes, with mirrored sunrise and a haunting stillness in the air. A fitting start to a day of solid performances and great results for ANA's squad, despite early misses due to overlooked riggers and a little disorganisation. Not to mention an unfortunate $500 car breakdown!! But all stepped up to the mark and made ANA proud pushing us 104 points ahead. A spectacular performance from our new Womens A eight from Perth College and fine performances from our Nationals campaigners. Not to mention the clean sweep of events by our Masters rowers. Also our Sub Juniors who peformed well when they got to the start in time!! And last, but not least, all our middle graders who performed very well across the board getting vital placings and a few wins too. Bunbury here we come! SUNSMART PENNANT POINTS

08 June 2008 Mettams (Shelley-RWA Head Race) A glorious morning with light winds and clear blue skies was presented to our crews. All boating went to plan and despite a last minute scratching of a double and our famous masters quad due to sickness the results speak for themselves. 3000 M Race Bull Creek start 9.00am
5000 M Race Shelley start 9.30am
31 May 2008 ANARC Pennant Regatta We mentioned weather mayhem for the Rowathon... ...nothing compared to the regatta that was, sadly, curtailed this weekand past. Besides a few early splashes of lightning over the city skyline a beautifully flat Swan River beckoned the rowers and some sublime racing was admirably commentated by Laurie Anderson, despite several electrical interuptions. The crews were well organised and racing went on with the efficiency of a well oiled machine. 11.30 saw our first squall approach. Crews rushed to shore and the proceedings were halted for a while to let the inclement precipitation pass by. And what a show it produced, Ascot, Belmont and some unfortunate sub-station in Bayswater recieved many a jolt from the heavens, the latter plunging the clubrooms and sheds into darkness. Leaving only the light of the BBQ to eat by. With an announcement due at 12.00 the captains gathered and decided that, with another front due in about an hour, it might be wise to tether the boats to their trailers and make for home. And so the ANA regatta came to an end with about a third of the day racing completed. But good racing nevertheless. Thanks to all who helped with course laying, toilet towing, tent raising, BBQing, food prepping, boat moving and general marshalling. Onwards... 24 May 2008 ROWATHON - 40 km Despite a threat of storms and general weather mayhem the event Thanks to all the patient stamping officials and ground crews for their efforts. 22 May 2008 - Pennant results THE SUNSMART PREMIERSHIP PENNANT
